Volunteer Program

Why Volunteer at MCPAWS?

Volunteering at MCPAWS is a wonderful way to make a direct impact on the quality of life of our shelter animals and meet new people. Volunteers are absolutely crucial to our success here at MCPAWS – after all, our organization was founded when a group of volunteers combined their strengths to step up for animals in need.

Whether your interests and schedule permit you to volunteer every week, once a month or a few times a year, you’ll find your time well-spent, quite rewarding and much appreciated.

Volunteer Meetings

Volunteer meetings are held quarterly, here at the shelter. Join us to learn more about what is happening at the shelter, current volunteer needs and opportunities, ask questions, and network with your fellow volunteers. We’d love to see you! For questions about the volunteer program, please email Development Coordinator, Kirstine Sigloh: KSigloh@mcpaws.org

Application Process

The MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter Volunteer Program is designed to allow interested, compassionate individuals the opportunity to become involved in and familiar with the shelter and its animals.

MCPAWS Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to be unaccompanied by a parent or guardian. Persons under 16 must be at least 10 years old and be accompanied by a parent or guardian volunteer at all times.

Volunteer safety is our main concern. To make MCPAWS a safe place for everyone, the following protocol has been established.

Please Follow These 7 Steps Chronologically to Become a MCPAWS Volunteer:

Step 5: Take the Kennel Skills Quiz

Step 6: Call the Shelter at 208-634-3647 to schedule a short walk-through of our facilities with Shelter Manager Ashley.

Step 7: You are now ready to volunteer! We hope you enjoy volunteering with MCPAWS! Thank you!
