Foster & Dog Day Out Programs
BECOME A FOSTER PARENT
Thank you very much for your interest in fostering for MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter! Fostering is an integral component of animal welfare, allowing us to provide extra care and love to animals who literally might not otherwise survive. We need dedicated individuals, like you, to help us in this very special endeavor. No doubt about it, fostering saves lives and we couldn’t do it without you!
Please ask us about fostering cats & kittens. We also have a short-term dog foster option for “sleep overs” and Dog Day Out, where you can take a shelter dog for a hike or day trip.

FOSTER CARE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- Train compassionate individuals to provide specialized care of at-risk shelter animals such as neonatal kittens and young puppies.
- Encourage the recovery and care of sick or injured animals.
- Provide a much needed break from the kennel and additional training/socialization for shelter dogs and cats.
- Take dogs on outtings for enrichment and exposure to potential adopters.
- Ultimately place well-adjusted, healthy pets with adoptive families.
MCPAWS will provide necessary training and cover all veterinary costs, food, bedding, and any other needs while the animal is in foster care. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please contact our Shelter Manager Ashley Colglazier AColglazier@mcpaws.org for more information or call (208) 634-DOGS.
Dog Day Out
Help provide enrichment and a break from the shelter to our shelter dogs. You can take a dog for a hike or outing around town! This will not only provide them with a fun day, but it will also expose them to potential adopters! We provide a collar, ID tag, leash, backpack, water bowl, and everything you need to make for a successful outing.
You can also have a sleepover with a shelter dog as part of our short-term foster program. Please reach out to Ashley if you are interested: AColglazier@mcpaws.org.

Fospice Care
Are you willing to provide end-of-life care and comfort to senior and/or sick animals who are not suffering? We are looking for compassionate volunteers who are willing to provide shelter, warmth, and love to animals who are near the end of their journey.
MCPAWS will cover all medical expenses while the animal is in hospice care. This program is rarely needed, but important. We hate to see senior animals sit in kennels, when they could be curled up on a couch or next to a fire. Please contact us if you think you are interested in this most special of opportunities.
