Life-Saving Statistics

At MCPAWS, we believe that every animal counts. We track each animal that comes through our door following national guidelines, and by using a professional database. All of this information is also recorded each month in Shelter Animals Count, a national shelter database project.

MCPAWS is a no-kill animal shelter, which means we will never euthanize healthy, adoptable animals for space. When space becomes an issue, we work with a dedicated team of foster parents and other rescue organizations to transfer or house animals until they are adopted.

2024 Statistics

Thank you for helping make 2024 another successful year at MCPAWS! In 2024, MCPAWS found homes for 107 dogs and 285 cats. We were able to return 117 lost animals to their families thanks to microchips, ID tags, and our amazing followers on social media. We had a 74% return-to-owner rate for dogs and 2% for cats. Our awesome team of veterinarians was able to provide 145 low-cost spay/neuter surgeries! We were able to transfer 37 cats and 23 dogs from crowded shelters to MCPAWS and find them homes. We gave out 3,402 pounds of pet food from our free community food bank. All of this work is made possible by our amazing supporters. Thank you!

2023 Statistics

Thank you for helping make 2023 another successful year at MCPAWS! In 2023, MCPAWS found homes for 133 dogs and 329 cats. We were able to return 115 lost animals to their families thanks to microchips, ID tags, and our amazing followers on social media. We had an 80% return-to-owner rate for dogs and 9% for cats. Our awesome team of veterinarians were able to provide 380 low-cost spay/neuter surgeries! We were able to transfer 82 cats and 45 dogs in from overcrowded shelters. 2022 Statistics

Thank you for helping make 2022 another successful year at MCPAWS! In 2022, MCPAWS found homes for 150 dogs and 330 cats. We were able to return 92 lost animals to their families thanks to microchips, ID tags, and our amazing followers on social media. Our awesome team of veterinarians were able to provide 268 low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, which is a 50% increase from 2021. We were able to transfer 71 cats and dogs in from overcrowded shelters.

2021 Statistics

Thank you for helping make 2021 another successful year at MCPAWS! In 2021, MCPAWS found homes for 128 dogs and 334 cats (175 of those cats were adopted from the new “Cat Library” at the MCPAWS Thrift Store!) We were able to return 125 lost animals to their families thanks to microchips, ID tags, and our amazing followers on social media. Our awesome team of veterinarians were able to provide 132 low cost spay/neuter surgeries. We were able to transfer 140 cats and dogs in from overcrowded shelters. We distributed 4,016 pounds of free pet food to community members in need. Our amazing foster families provided 5,912 days of foster care for the animals at the shelter!

2020 Statistics

Despite 2020 being one of the most challenging years ever, MCPAWS was able to provide services for 736 animals. We completed 475 cat & dog adoptions. We returned 110 stray animals to their owners and finished the year with a 86% Return Home Rate for dogs and 10% for cats. We transferred 38 animals to trusted partner organizations and transferred in 47 animals to MCPAWS. We provided 41 free or low cost spay/neuter surgeries for the pets of low-income community members and 79 Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) cat surgeries as part of our Compassionate Community Program. Our foster families provided 3,412 days of foster care in 2020 and we distributed 2,936 pounds of free pet food.

MCPAWS finished 2020 with a 97.8% Live Release Rate. This percentage was calculated by dividing the number of live release outcomes by total outcomes.

2019 Statistics

MCPAWS completed 516 cat & dog adoptions in 2019. We returned 159 stray animals to their owners (including 20 cats!), and transferred 31 animals to trusted partner organizations. We transferred in 41 animals to MCPAWS, and provided 106 free or low cost spay/neuter surgeries for the pets on low-income community members as part of our Community Outreach Program. We also provided 87 free microchips for cats and saw 20 stray cats be successfully reunited with owners!

2018 Statistics

MCPAWS adopted 397 animals out in 2018, and finished the year with a 97% save rate. We returned 135 stray animals to their owners, and transferred 47 animals to other rescue organizations. We transferred in 62 animals to MCPAWS, and provided 155 free or low cost spay/neuter surgeries for the pets on low-income community members as part of our Community Outreach Program.

2017 Statistics

MCPAWS adopted 361 animals out in 2017, and finished the year with a 96.6% save rate of adoptable animals. We returned 139 stray animals to their owners, and transferred 72 animals to other rescue organizations. We transferred in 36 animals to MCPAWS, and provided 121 free or low cost spay/neuter surgeries for the pets on low-income community members as part of our Community Outreach Program.

2016 Statistics

MCPAWS adopted 305 animals out in 2016, and finished the year with a 97.9% save rate of adoptable animals. We returned 156 stray animals to their owners, and transferred 109 animals to other rescue organizations.

2015 Statistics

In 2015, MCPAWS adopted out 362 animals, and finished the year with a 98.5% save rate for all adoptable animals. We retuned 141 stray animals to their owners, and transferred 11 animals to other rescue organizations.
