Meet the Veterinary Team

Dr. Jessi Ross

Director of Veterinary Services

Veterinarian

Dr. Jessi Ross (Mead) is a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine, but grew up just 50 miles from MCPAWS Veterinary Hospital in the small Idaho community of Pollock.  She fell in love with Idaho as a child but left a few days after high school in pursuit of her dream of becoming a veterinarian and learning the skills necessary to survive in rural Idaho.  Dr. Ross spent 21 years in the U.S. Army, serving as a Combat Medic and Medical Logistics NCO with the Missouri National Guard, including multiple deployments in the Middle East, and later as a Field Service Veterinarian with the Army Reserve.  She will retire in March of 2022, leaving the honor of serving our great nation to the next generation.  Her professional interests include client education, soft tissue surgery, pain management, shelter medicine work and integrative medicine therapies.  When not at work Dr. Ross raises and shows Boer meat goats and loves teaching youth showman how to manage livestock.  She also raises and trains Gypsy horses and enjoys fishing with her dad, gardening, canning, and generally living the Idaho homestead lifestyle she grew up with.  She is very happy to join the MCPAWS team and to serve the community that has always been “home.”

Dr. Janet Houlihan

Veterinarian

After selling my veterinary practice to MCPAWS in April 2020, I went to work, under Covid-19 restrictions, at the MCPAWS Veterinary Hospital.  It was a big transition for me and my fellow employees, but one that I embraced with gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to join together with an excellent staff in a newer facility with a great purpose…serving all the animals and people of our area. I’m thrilled and honored to be a part of this endeavor at this point in my career, 45 years as a general practitioner, 32 of which were as a practice owner in McCall. I understand the stresses of trying to run a veterinary business and the effort it takes to keep everything running smoothly, keeping employees and clients happy, and still make a profit. We need the support, understanding and encouragement of our community to help us with this  big undertaking. I’m loving the opportunity to finish my career work as a veterinarian focusing on veterinary care for my beloved clients and their pets, for shelter animals, and the health and well-being of our community. All while someone else runs the business! I’m having too much fun to retire yet and plan to continue working  part time with MCPAWS Veterinary Hospital for the time being. I’m thankful for the opportunity and for the wonderful people that I get to work with every day I’m there.
