The MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter Volunteer Program is designed to allow interested, compassionate individuals the opportunity to become involved in and familiar with the shelter and its animals.

MCPAWS Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to be unaccompanied by a parent or guardian. Persons under 16 must be at least 10 years old and be accompanied by a parent or guardian volunteer at all times.

Shelter safety is our main concern. To make MCPAWS a safe place for everyone, the following protocol has been established:

Complete and submit a volunteer application.

Satisfactorily complete a volunteer orientation administered by MCPAWS Staff.

Volunteer Orientations are the 2nd Saturdays each month at 10am, by appointment. To schedule an           appointment, please contact the shelter, 208-634-3647.

Attend a "Kennel Skills" course with Christa. These courses are the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:30am.

Sign up to work with a mentor for your first couple visits. You can arrange a mentor with Christa.

You will need to complete a kennel skills class within three months of your orientation.

Once you have completed these steps, you will be ready to volunteer on your own!
